YWW HYPE is a federally funded youth employment program offering training and support to help youth (18-30) find employment or return to school. The program consists of three streams of sector-based training offered at various times throughout the year; Retail Skills, Construction Safety Skills and Hospitality Skills. Training includes certificate courses, as well as pre-employment and job maintenance skills, delivered in a hybrid setting of both in-person classes and online training. We help with resume writing and interview prep, as well as help participants find work after the training. We can also provide monitoring throughout the work placement, if required, and we offer all career development services to ensure our participants succeed.
The YWW HYPE program can provide a range of services and supports, and can offer assistance that is based on your particular needs. For example:
- Sector-Based Training: where you will enter into one of three streams of training for positions in either Retail, Construction Safety or Hospitality.
- Certificate training to build your resume in in-demand areas such as First Aid and WHMIS
- Employability Skills Sessions: where you can build skills like leadership, teamwork, and communication
- Employment Services: where you learn things like how to conduct a job search, complete a job application, develop a resume and cover letter, and prepare for a job interview
- individual employment counselling
- Financial supports available, if needed to participate in learning and work activities
- Referrals to other organizations to help with issues such as housing, mental health, food insecurity
- Bus pass if needed
- Work-appropriate clothing and safety gear, if needed to begin a job
- Wage subsidy available for employers
- Job Search Assistance (note: work placements are not guaranteed and are dependent on labour market availability. The project coordinator will work with participants to find employment based upon your interests and skills.)
