With funding from the Department of Education, the Murphy Center offers foundational literacy programming for adults in St. John’s, Gander, Corner Brook, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Integrated partnerships with The Gathering Place in St. John’s, the Salvation Army in Gander, the Vine Place Community Centre in Corner Brook, and the Labrador Friendship Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay support the Literacy Program through the provision of space and/or promotion and recruitment efforts.

The Literacy Program offers individual and/or group instruction in:

  • Foundational literacy and numeracy
  • Digital literacy
  • Life skills

All Literacy Programs are open to any adult over the age of 19.
